One Space or Two?
Jul. 26th, 2009 08:00 amI learned how to type on a computer keyboard when I was in third grade in computer class, which was mandatory at my school. By the time I was in fifth grade, I knew how to touch-type and was the fastest typer in my class, clocking in over 100WPM. What can I say? One of the boys in my class asserted that he could type faster than me because he was a boy and I was determined to prove him wrong. (And I did; I beat him in the last touch-typing test of the year.)
I was taught to enter two spaces between sentences when typing. It’s how I’ve always typed my sentences, and it feels too strange for me to type only one space between sentences rather than two, but I know not everyone does this. Most everyone I’ve asked uses only one space. Still, I’m curious to see how common, exactly, it is for two spaces to be used rather than one. Surely it can’t be such an odd thing?
Question of the Week: Do you enter two spaces between your sentences or only one when typing on a computer keyboard?
